Square Meal Review of Crazy Bear ?

This overtly glamorous, gloriously indulgent pan-Asian playground is a riot of varnished panelling, padded leather, hot red tones and clubby exotica in deepest Fitzrovia. A grand, sweeping staircase and twinkling chandelier set out to impress, as does an accommodating menu that treks across Asia's hotspots. Dim-sum afternoon tea suits the ladies who shop, sushi and sashimi are big draws, and the huge carte hitchhikes all the way from Cotswold Chicken Satay to king prawn, taro and pumpkin tempura via crispy Gressingham duck with pomegranate or Panang beef curry with char-grilled baby aubergines. Staff run a tight ship, and the flashy basement bar is a hot ticket if you’re a fan of exotic cocktails. “Fantastic, very busy, we had a great time”, enthuses one fan of the overall experience. Wines are “excellent” too.

sexdrugsandbaconrolls :: The Crazy Bear – Fitzrovia

After a few drinks at the Sanderson Hotel, we headed towards The Crazy Bear in Fitzrovia. This place serves Eastern Asia fusion cuisine, in a 1920’s Art Deco style restaurant. Don’t let this rather awkward explanation put you off. The décor oozes old fashioned decadence with a fresh modern style in its food.

The restaurant is off the main road and is hidden behind a few well positioned shrubs. As you walk in you are welcomed by a small receptionist desk which leads on to the main restaurant floor. The restaurant is made to look smaller than it is for a cosy intimate feel. As there is a wall that splits the...

The Little Brown Book :: The Crazy Bear - Fitzrovia

I found it. Not that I will discontinue my search, this journey has no end. For now at least, I can safely say that I have tasted the best sushi in London. Welcome to the Crazy Bear in Fitzrovia and prepare to chain yourself to the kitchen if they try to make you leave. The extent of my sushi love can get a little out of hand at times.

The Crazybear group has character bursting restaurants dotted around the country. In fact, it was actually their Stadhampton branch that first inspired me to start my restaurant writings in the first place...

  1. For a friend’s birthday, we headed over to Crazy Bear in Fitzrovia. The restaurant itself is beautiful and glitzy, oozes art deco glamour and is unashamedly opulent. Walking in, you definitely feel a little bit special. We booked the 10 course taster menu and were given prawn crackers and spicy edamame to start. The chilli salt on the edamame was lovely and gave it a good kick. The prawn crackers had a good flavour and a better texture compared to the ones you get from your standard takeaway. A selection of starters followed which included spring rolls, pork and prawn suimai, sesame prawn on toast and chicken satay....
