Ex-residents Kate and Wills (and other cognoscenti) are already in the know about this alluring but semi-secret Welsh domain. Grade II-listed Château Rianfa with its landscaped parterres and
luscious landscaped location by the Menai Straits appears to have been hijacked straight from the Loire. Dinner is a social affair, served banqueting style, with drinks and canapés in the drawing
room preceding a three-course menu loaded with Welsh ingredients ranging from locally caught fish and laverbread to Snowdonia cheeses – the kitchen even makes use of Halen Môn sea salt. Sunday
lunch is a leisurely call and you can also drop in for afternoon tea (Wed-Sat 2-5pm). Adrenaline-fuelled kicks for the guests range from ‘quarry zip-wiring’ to speedboating and coastal-careering by
kayak. Otherwise chill out in the spa or on the hotels’ private beach.
