SquareMeal Review of Chaophraya Glasgow

The snazzy Chaophraya chain has earned a reputation for delivering classy Thai food in elegant big-city settings, with smilingly attentive service keeping things up to scratch. A lengthy menu features staples such as green curry and pad thai alongside more elaborate signature dishes, but the emphasis is always on authentic flavours. A ‘duo of fish’ features sea bass with a punchy tamarind sauce (as good as a memorable local speciality from Phuket), while flaky cod fillet comes in a subtly spiced Panang sauce. Appetisers include perfectly crisp prawn tempura, finger-licking marinated pork and duck salad with a vibrant roasted chilli and lime dressing, while street-food pancakes stuffed with pandan leaves, coconut and sticky rice make a sweet finish. Decent Asian cocktails, international wines and a separate vegetarian menu are further pluses.
