Restaurant views of touristy Cambridge don’t get much better than this: from a table by the picture windows of this very British eatery you can look out onto King’s College Chapel in all its
photogenic glory. To eat, plates of cured meat, steaks, chops and traditional suet puddings are naturally the order of the day, but the seasonal menu always includes some fish (perhaps herb-crusted
hake fillet with leeks, Suffolk chorizo and smoked tomato sauce), as well as occasional offbeat options such as squirrel. The reasonably priced Francophile wine list concentrates on the
Languedoc-Roussillon region, whilst lagers come from Suffolk brewery Calvors. Service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. If you haven’t booked, be prepared to sit downstairs in the large,
cool basement. For more of the same, try the nearby St John’s Chophouse.
