Bodean’s BBQ in Covent Garden brings authentic North American smokehouse dining to the heart of London’s West End. Just a short walk from the Theatre Royal, Lyceum and other major stages, this relaxed spot is ideal for pre-theatre or post-show dining. The menu, created in collaboration with chef and butcher Richard H. Turner, returns to the roots of barbecue, bourbon and beer. Meats are smoked in-house using low-and-slow techniques, producing deeply flavoured brisket, Jacob’s Ladder ribs and tender baby back ribs.
Starters include smoked fried chicken wings, mushroom frickles and BBQ buns filled with brisket or pulled pork. Smokehouse staples range from Carolina pulled pork, smoked turkey and hot link sausage to 14-hour brisket dinners, burnt ends, grilled rare-breed rump and smoked half chicken. Sides include BBQ beans, vinegar slaw, mac and five cheeses and Carolina poutine, made with beef dripping fries, pulled pork, cheese curds and gravy.
Burgers and buns include smoked brisket, Carolina pulled pork and the Big Cheese Ode. Ribs are available by the half or full rack, while salads like Boston lettuce and chopped tomato provide lighter options. Vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are available.
Desserts include sticky toffee pudding, chocolate fudge brownie, banana splits and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Milkshakes, soft drinks, coffee and a full bar menu of bourbons, cocktails, beer and wine are also available.
The interior is dark and moody, with black leather booths, rustic wood panelling, industrial-style lighting and vintage Americana touches. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming and family friendly. A bold and satisfying option for meat lovers in the West End.
