Peer down from the mezzanine walkway, then descend the spiral staircase for a touch of glitz, but no tablecloths, at Bocconcino – the first London outing from the Moscow-based pizza/pasta chain. Soft, comfy beige seats encourage lingering and the moneyed Mayfair set seem relaxed as they enjoy mounds of salmon tartare or boards of rich cured meats paired with springy, salty focaccia. For mains, we loved the big, authentic flavours of slow-cooked wild boar ragù, but if you’re here for pizza, there’s a decent selection and it’s cooked in a wood-fired oven – try the huge, doughy house special. After that, go for zingy New York cheesecake with passion fruit or the ultra-rich dolce pizza – although, at £16 a go, you might consider sharing this. A couple of frothy Espresso Martinis provide the perfect ending.
While blogging events are great fun, I really enjoy catching up with blogging friends in quieter surroundings and with less of us. So when Andrea invited Angie, Catherine and I to Bocconcino in Mayfair for a weeknight treat I jumped at the chance! These ladies are some of the closest friends I've made through my little blog and I always love hearing what they're up to, from Catherine's trip to Poland, Angie's holiday of a life time in St Lucia and Andrea trying to get the work life balance that I'm going to be searching for next year there was a lot to catch up on!

A short while ago the lovely folk at Bocconcino got in touch and asked if myself and a few other bloggers would like to pop in for a review. Gladly, was obviously my answer. Thus on a cold, miserable Wednesday evening, I found myself in the good company of some of my aptly coined ‘internet friends’, namely Angie, Lauren and Catherine, in a really rather beautiful & cosy restaurant, versus eating a basic dinner in my pyjamas on the sofa.

As we walked through the doors of Mayfair’s Bocconcino Charlotte (10) turned to me and mouthed: ‘It’s posh!’ As we took our coats off we admired the sweeping metal spiral staircase from the mezannine entrance level and the glow of the restaurant below. Eight years ago I wouldn’t have dared take my step-children somewhere like this but they know the drill now, it’s like eating out with a couple of (very young) friends who are arguably more grown up than us at times. We were here to check out ‘Family Sundays’ where the idea is the kids are taken off to the kitchen to make pizza whilst the adults eat their dinner...

Bocconcino is a rather chic Italian restaurant in the heart of Mayfair. Located on Berkeley Street, in what looks like a small spot from the outside houses a large, spacious restaurant inside. I have a real love for Italian food and I love this little corner of Mayfair so I was definitely looking forward to see what Bocconcino had to offer.Obviously I’d had a sneak peek at the menu before arriving and I was very happy to see so many fish options. Having just returned from Barcelona I was already missing all the fish!
