Squaremeal Review of Blixen ?

Staking a claim for diversity in chain-heavy Spitalfields, this all-day brasserie is a cosy and bright contender boasting "beautiful interiors", the "friendliest" service and a strong pedigree: co-owner Clive Watson also co-founded The Garrison, Village East and the Riding House Café. Dining is spread across two levels: the ground floor has vast ceiling lamps and plenty of windows putting the emphasis on light, while the dark wood-panelled basement and bar are far more intimate. Classic European options such as mackerel with pickled vegetables, a half-poussin with fennel or monkfish in mussel broth don't break any boundaries, although our dense squid and chickpea stew with saffron aïoli hit the button for flavour, and a salad of kale, walnut and avocado delivered a pleasingly vibrant balance of texture and taste. Curious tipples such as Post Pep (Cognac, cardamom and coffee syrup) add some fun to this great-value all-rounder.

Emma Rose Tully :: Review: Blixen | Daydreamer

Blixen holds the key to an enchanted city garden. Overlooking Old Spitalfields Market, enter Blixen from Brushfield Street and specifically request a garden table for your occasion. You’ll be lead through the bustling eatery, past the open fronted kitchen and into a conservatory out the back.

SilverSpoon London :: SilverSpoon London: Blixen - A Beautiful Garden Restaurant in Spitalfields

As soon as I walked into Blixen, I fell in love with the decor; the dining room is spacious with a high ceiling and lots of light provided by the big windows and large ceiling lamps. It feels fresh and modern and best of all unique unlike other Spitalfields restaurants which are largely popular chains. There was a pretty garden theme that runs through the decor of the restaurant…

Glutopia :: Gluten Free Dining at Blixen, Spitalfields | Glutopia

Blixen is a new opening just around the corner from Spitalfields Market. It stands on the site of an old bank, two walls house huge windows with metal fanlights to let in acres of natural light.

The interior décor is all rough brickwork, whitewashed and surmounted with walnut wood. The ceiling’s a beautiful construction of pale floorboards. The bar’s a white shrine, cunningly lit, with bottles of spirits in glass-fronted cupboards, and globe lamps on stalks...
