Squaremeal Review of Bistro at St. James' Court, A Taj Hotel ?

Housed in St. James' Court, A Taj Hotel, Bistro manages to hold its own against established neighbours such as Bank Westminster and Michelin-starred Quilon thanks to its plush interiors and please-all Anglo-European menu with ‘British Asian’ add-ons. Soft seats and gentle lighting contribute to the cosy atmosphere, which is matched by international classics ranging from bouillabaisse, Caesar salad and grilled vegetable tian to fish and chips, homemade ravioli with sage butter or grilled rib-eye with béarnaise sauce. Alternatively, follow the spice trail with chicken tikka masala, rogan josh or Malaysian red snapper laksa with steamed noodles, before chilling out with a plate of tiramisu, coffee ‘soil’ and edible flowers. On sunny days, ask for a table in the hotel’s pretty courtyard, which is a world away from Westminster’s hubbub.

A Girl Has to Eat - Restaurant Reviews & Food Guide :: A Girl has to Eat (and travel) - Bistro at St. James' Court

St James’ Court Hotel on Buckingham Gate offers a number of dining options, one of which is Bistro 51. Contemporary in design but somewhat subdued in taste, Bistro 51 serves a contemporary European menu. The hotel is part of the Indian owned Taj Hotel Group, one of the largest hotel chains in the world. As such, the menu also includes a number of Indian-inspired dishes.
We dined from the Chef’s special menu which is priced at a reasonable £30. We started with a boccocini and cherry tomato tian with pickled portobello and pesto which was pleasant and tasty. The mellow flavour of the bocconini with the sweetness...

Around the World in 80 Pairs of Shoes :: Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at St James Court Hotel, LondonAround the World in 80 Pairs of Shoes

Last year G and I decided that we needed to visit India after watching a documentary on the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai, the crowning jewel for the Taj Hotel Group and India’s most famous hotel. So you can imagine my delight on getting invited to review the 24 Karat Gold Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at St James Court Hotel by Zomato as it meant we were going to experience our very first Taj Hotel in person.

We managed to arrive a little earlier than we anticipated so we found the bar…and had two drinks including a Cinderella Mocktail for me and I didn’t lose a shoe!...

Foodie Force :: Foodie Force: 24 Karat Gold Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is my guilty pleasure, but when you add 24-karat gold into the mix it certainly becomes a more opulent indulgence.

So when I heard that St James Court Hotel London had broken with tradition and created a decadent afternoon tea, inspired by Luxor Pure Gold 24K Brut Champagne I couldn't wait to give it a try.

The hotel grounds are a beautiful oasis of calm from the hustle and bustle of London...

Taj 51 is a complex just a stones throw from Buckingham Palace, with 5 star hotel accommodation, luxury suites and butlered residences, surrounded by 5 dining experiences, including Bistro 51. This is glamorous, exciting luxury. And yet, their Chef’s Special menu, a three course set menu sits at a very comfortable £30 per person. Bargain.

We walked past Buckingham Palace and quickly arrived at the hotel, an imposing Victorian building close to St James’s Park. Inside, the golden hues of the reception made a welcome contrast to the grey day outside.

We were shown to Bistro 51’s dining room, a very comfy space adorned with modern artworks. The hotel is also home to Michelin starred Indian restaurant Quilon and the modern restaurant, Bank, with its airy conservatory overlooking the courtyard...
