Wooden tables and chairs and a tiled floor make a simple enough setting for this local Turkish specialist, but don’t let the lack of adornment put you off – the food will be plentiful and well-cooked, if a little rustic in its presentation, and the bill will be kind on the pocket. Open all day, there are seriously rib-sticking breakfasts, with a full English available as well as a Mediterranean-style offering with Turkish sausage and halloumi. Come lunchtime and into the evening, locals move on to classic pies and the likes of gammon steak and lasagne, all as cheap as the proverbial chips, while those wanting to try the house specialities find themselves content with a full mezze choice, followed by charcoal-grilled kebabs and lamb chops, with baklava to follow.
