If you don’t like meatballs, this probably isn’t the place for you. This 50-cover restaurant from Australian chef Bonny Porter (a finalist on Australian Masterchef, who has worked at The Arts Club and Village East) offers hungry Soho-ites a gourmet meatball-focused menu. Choose from five varieties of ball, including wagyu beef, confit salmon or quinoa beetroot and feta, then select a sauce such as traditional tomato, or the more bold Romesco, with red pepper, almonds, hazelnuts and garlic. In line with the ‘dude food’ movement, there are also a range of sliders, served as a trio in soft mini brioche buns. Choose from chicken with sugo, ricotta béchamel and aubergine, or pork with Romesco, aïoli and charred radicchio. The menu also offers a revolving selection of elegant seasonal side dishes such as mac ‘n’ cheese, as well as purées, chips and salads (from £4). A short but sweet dessert menu includes a brownie topped with Persian fairy floss (that’s candy floss to Brits), while the global wine list keeps everyone happy. In a nod to Porter’s roots, the interior has a laid-back, Aussie vibe encouraging lots of natural light and an impressive ceiling installation.
