Amata is a sharp, slick & spacious pizzeria that also does a nice line in grilled dishes (who’s for tagliata vitello or a ‘hamburger alla toscana?’). It may be in a tricky location well away from the main Docklands action, but the glass-fronted corner site is attractive & the venue has merits aplenty including a bookable mezzanine space, bar & free Wi-Fi. Pizza is the star here, be it a classic margherita, American, siciliana or something with more contemporary appeal – perhaps a ‘capra’ with goats’ cheese & asparagus spears or the ‘pollo’ with chicken, red pepper & chilli flakes. Otherwise, go for pasta – penne with spicy sausage, for example. Pints of draught Peroni are the perfect accompaniment, whatever you choose, although the modest Italian/international wine list also has its fans.
