Once the only Manchester restaurant known to out-of-towners, this vast Chinatown institution has long enjoyed unfailing support. At times, accusations of laurel-resting ring disappointingly true,
but – at its best – Yang Sing still has charm, vibrancy & very good dim sum. Avoid the much-vaunted ostrich steak with lemongrass sauce (tough) & head instead for the fresh fish &
seafood, perfectly steamed dumplings & cracking roast meats. The smartly refurbished dining room is so huge – & the waiting team so large – that service can be a mixed bag. Get lucky,
though, & you’ll enjoy a masterful charm offensive.
