Pimlico Road is lined with posh antique shops, but step into Tinello for a warm embrace that’s pure Tuscany. The interior is in the rustic-chic style, with bare brick walls, subtle mirrors, modern
furniture and flattering light from dangling lamps – all overseen by Max Sali, while his brother Federico conjures up ‘culinary wonders’ in the kitchen. Expect a highly versatile procession, from
triangles of deep-fried bread dough with smooth lardo, sautéed sweet peppers and other ‘small eats’ to classic desserts such as pannacotta with poached peaches. In between, it’s all about the
‘serious stuff’, such as ricotta gnocchi or ‘super-fresh’ ravioli of juicy braised pig’s cheek. The extensive Italian wine list has lots of unfamiliar labels, so ask for recommendations. Bring a
hot date, your children or your bank manager – they’ll all love it.
