It seems that time has stood still in this delightful family-owned hotel in one of the most popular tourist towns in the Cotswolds. Owned by Richard de Wolf for the past 19 years, the place exudes
old-world charm (it actually dates back to the 15th century) with its polished antiques and equally polished service. The front bar is where generations of farmers have met to talk over their
pints. Behind is the restaurant, with its light-wood floor and pair of imposing pillars, where the local gentry, and those who like to imitate them, dine in style on such dishes as coarse venison
and veal pate, tian of salmon tartare and fresh crab mousse on anchovy courtons, and jugged hare. A true country classic.
