Spoon started life as a small café in the early noughties, before graduating to these first-floor premises during 2009. Once upstairs you’ll find a large, light space with big windows and quirky,
drawing-room interiors informally partitioned to create seating for proper meals, plus chesterfields, chairs, picnic benches and a few tables for the coffee crowd. The menu covers everything from
breakfast to dinner, so drop by for a quick mocha or some ginger and lemon tea or go the whole hog with, say, grilled courgette salad, mozzarella, capers and mint followed by organic pork and herb
sausages with homemade baked beans, bacon and chunky chips on the side. For afters, consider a meringue with raspberries and vanilla ice cream. The proprietors clearly care, and it shows in Spoon’s
solid bistro cooking, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.
