Located on the corner of Spitalfields, Scarlet Dot lures in City workers with the tempting waft of aromatic spices and sizzling meat – courtesy of “awesome” kebabs and wraps cooked on its alfresco
grill while you wait. The covered outdoor eating area is a real draw, while indoors is calmer and slicker, with a stylish black colour scheme. Appetisers might see crab cakes, minced lamb samosas
or a “delicious” £15 platter for two featuring jumbo prawns, tandoori salmon and shish kebab. Mains include classic curries (dhansak, korma etc), but it’s worth seeking out specials such as
Rajasthani daccan (diced lamb with chilli, garlic and ginger) or Goan chicken with coriander, mint and tamarind. A daily happy hour (3.30-7pm) keeps afternoon drinkers in high spirits, while Indian
and Thai bento boxes are perfect for folk on the go.
We chose to go to Scarlet Dot more out of convenience than anything if truth be told. Having worked in this area, I knew that Scarlet Dot did two for one cocktail and so my penchant for cocktails really had this locked down for a while. This was originally an Indian restaurant but has now turned its hand to Thai so is a mixture of the two...
