‘Hugely enjoyable and rightfully popular’, this little sibling of nearby Lola Rojo is a real looker – its close-set tables arranged around a hefty, marble-topped bar running down the narrow dining
room, with Moorish tiles and bright paintings adding to the mood. Traditional tapas are primed to complement a 20-strong list of ‘well-priced’ sherries (all served by the glass), so pick from
snacks and small plates such as tortilla stuffed with haricot beans and nuggets of smoky chorizo, crunchy breaded prawns with smooth chipotle sauce or slivers of top-quality jamón. Petite main
courses with mix-and-match sides and sauces hail from the Josper grill – nuggets of invigoratingly fresh fish with firm, sweet piquillo peppers or presa ibérica (a shoulder cut of pork) with creamy
smoked aubergines, say. All-Spanish staff provide smiling service despite pushy Clapham crowds clamouring for tables.
Speak to any Spaniard and they will assure you that there is a sherry for everyone.
