A late-night hotspot during the 1990s, this Brewer Street evergreen has maintained its hedonistic buzz with flowing Champagne cocktails, keep-’em-coming seafood specialities (try oysters by the
dozen or a retro prawn cocktail) and that glittering disco ball, which has seen many a diner take to the floor for a mid-meal boogie. The room hasn’t changed much, with high marble tables, beaded
chandeliers and Paul Raeside photographs – although, in keeping with its origins as a butcher’s, the venue now offers meaty dishes alongside its signature seafood. ‘Friendly but unobtrusive’ staff
deliver glistening fruits de mer and daily fish specials, as well as grilled steaks, slow-roasted pork belly and rotisserie chickens, while a ‘good-value’ wine list provides suitable matches on all
counts. A takeaway/delivery service is available; otherwise, it’s no bookings – although waiting times are accurately predicted.
