A useful, tourist-free spot close to Notting Hill Gate, this corner gastropub has been a local favourite for the five or so years it’s been open & is a sister operation to the William IV in
Kensal Green. It’s a princely looking place, as much of a bar & restaurant as a gastropub, where the groomed patrons are as likely to order a mojito as Beck’s, Stella or Hoegaarden (there’s no
real ale). Food is competently crafted & has an easy-going appeal that’s as popular for brunch as dinner & lunch. Oysters, risottos, pork belly, burgers & crumbles are joined by more
complex offerings such as caramelised scallops, duck confit & banana fritters, enjoyed in the art-bedecked dining room or, weather permitting, the gorgeous courtyard garden.
