Its glory days may be long gone, but ‘KP’ has regained some of its impetus following a refit and a change of culinary emphasis. Inside, a black-and-white tiled floor and cloth-free tables emphasise
the contemporary brasserie vibe, while the addition of sound-cladding soaks up what was once a considerable celeb-fuelled din. The all-purpose, French-inspired menu has been replaced by a
bistro-style offering that leans heavily on seafood from next-door's fishmonger, with appetisers including the likes of spiced Devon crab or Cornish mackerel rollmops with potato salad. After that,
pair your chosen ‘market fish’ with various sauces and sides or opt for, say, roast cod with ham, braised chicory and heritage beetroot. There are also steaks and game for the carnivores, while
dessert might bring sticky toffee sundae with candied walnuts. Special dos in the private room come in for fulsome praise.
This February, vibrant neighbourhood fish brasserie, Kensington Place,will transform its private dining room into a popup restaurant: FISHBone.A stone’s throw from Notting Hill station, FISHBone will be a unique fish and seafood spin on the ‘gourmet fastfood’ trend. Seating only 36 diners, this small and intimate space will combine English eccentricity and a retro diner feel. The interior will bestripped back and informal with a large communal wooden table running through the centre of the room and decorated throughout with vintage paraphernalia.Inspired by the restaurant’s hit summer menu, FISHBone will offer a range of ‘fastfish’ dishes created by head chef Dan Loftin, including the signature Scallopdog with brown shrimp and cucumber vierge; Yellowfin tuna burger with sesame, soy andradish; Salmon “donor” with pitta, cucumber and yoghurt, and Pulled skate with beurre noisette and capers...

The Room at Kensington Place seats up to 22 guests on one table, or up to 36 guests in total and can hold as many as 70 guests for a drinks and canapés reception. The space can be hired for lunch or dinner. The Room has a bright and airy feel with a high vaulted ceiling, in the centre of which sits a large skylight. There are many options of table numbers and size, dependent on the number of guests. This private room is complete with it's own entrance, completely separate to the main restaurant.
