Steak is taken very, very seriously in the capital these days – something that Gaucho’s outlets are well placed to exploit. This sleek Argentinian steakhouse chain revolves around its
pampas-reared, ‘wet-aged’ beef, & diners enjoy the sense of ceremony as waiters parade wooden boards loaded with different cuts. ‘It’s always an experience, even if you’ve been there a hundred
times’. If you’re planning on ordering your rib-eye, rump or picana with chips or humitas (mashed sweetcorn in the husk), go for a light starter (perhaps scallop ceviche or salmon tiraditos) – so
you’ll have room for dulce de leche flan or ‘freggo’ ice cream to finish. The Canary Wharf branch’s dark, moody vibe & ‘very black’ interior are typical of the brand, although its expansive
terrace & occasional live music nights are real USPs. The all-Argentinian wine list is interesting, if ‘overpriced’.
