Craig Minto from the crowd-pleasing Fleece down the road has expanded his empire by scooping up this old boozer, which in a previous life was a Chinese restaurant. The sleek, stylish interior is
now more Notting Hill than Nanchang, with Mulberry tartan flock wallpaper, Kilner jar light fittings, prints in rococo gilt frames and checked wool curtains. There are several spaces to eat,
including a warm snug with an open fire, where the bar food promises the likes of smoked haddock and leek risotto to go with pints of Copper Dragon Victorian Amber. Elsewhere the kitchen aims to
impress, with dishes such as wild rabbit and foie gras terrine with truffle and sauce gribiche or tranche of turbot with confit pumpkin, pomegranate, parmentier potatoes, shrimp tartare and beurre
noisette luring punters to the elegant dining room.
