inher30s :: Burger and Lobster (Definitely the Lobster)

Burger & Lobster is no longer a novelty on the London restaurant scene, but judging by the crowds that still throng outside waiting for a table, not a trend that is going to die down any time soon.

For anybody not in the know, £20 buys you a Burger, a Lobster Roll or a Half Lobster (Grilled or Steamed). Simples.

Post work on a Friday, bracing ourselves for a long queue, we hightail it to Mayfair – tucked away on a side street minutes from Green Park station, we’re ushered into a table pretty quickly. To be fair, it’s not even 6pm. Eager Beavers we are...

Little Things :: A Mayfair Affair: Burger and Lobster

This week I found myself down in London for a few days, and obviously I felt that it was absolutely imperative to make the most of it. Two of my bestest friends from university have settled down in the big smoke since graduating, so having a good old girly catch up with them was absolutely top of my agenda. When you leave university, you find that you and your friends are blasted back to a whole load of different parts of the UK, and as much as you try to arrange those all important meet ups, there are always 101 things going on. The three of us hadn’t been together in far too long, but as always, it was exactly how we had left off. To me, this is exactly what true friendship is about, and this meeting really made me realise how much I miss both of these beautiful girls! After a whole load of hugging and screeching we headed off for a couple of drinks, before retreating to Mayfair for dinner at Burger and Lobster. Nestled down a little side street among the hustle, bustle and money splashing fair that is Mayfair, lies this little gem. I had heard nothing but good things about this restaurant, and it certainly did not disappoint. It completely blows your stereotype of the designer clad girl sipping champagne and munching on lobster out of the window. Instead, Burger and Lobster have created a unique concept that really puts any other Lobster eatery to shame. There is no menu, and instead there are two options. Burger or Lobster, both of which are served with fries and a side salad. All three of us went for the lobster as we felt that this was a complete bargain for such a dish, but a tad expensive for the likes of a burger. When ordering the lobster you have two options, grilled or steamed. All of us went for the grilled as recommended by our waiter, and it was certainly the right choice! It was juicy, flavoursome and a complete and utter treat that should not be missed! I know what you may be thinking, for £20 you must get a measly little portion, but this is certainly not the case. You get a stonking platter full of lobster, and my goodness does it taste good. What’s more, you get to wear the signature burger and lobster bib to stop your clothes getting all mucky! What more could you ask for!?We spent the entire evening laughing, gossiping and remembering old times, and it was so good to finally get together with my two fabby little friends again.  There are a number of these restaurants all over London, but if you’re after the Mayfair experience you will find this one at 29 Clarges street.

Wrap Your Lips Around This :: Burger and Lobster

There was a time when a restaurant was utterly bereft without a substantial menu. Where once a flourishing cursive would mark the journey through starter to dessert, tonight none such exists. Menus are superfluous at Burger and Lobster as there are only three items to be had; a whole lobster (steamed or grilled), lobster roll, or burger.

The price of any of the three options is £20, so you would have to be a fool of incalculable proportion to opt for the burger. In the presence of lobster, you do have to cut all ties to the lowlier beef. Espiecially when both are pitched at the same price. Don’t be that person...

Whistle and Bango :: W1, BURGER AND LOBSTER – Dinner

For those who haven’t yet heard about Burger & Lobster (you have been living on another planet) – it’s a no booking set up where you choose either a beef burger or a whole steamed lobster. That’s the entire menu. Or if you want to be peculiar there’s a lobster roll in a brioche bun...

the chic brulee :: Burger & Lobster

This weekend I checked out the Mayfair location of London hotspot Burger & Lobster. This no-reservations eatery constantly has a queue running out the door and, as we found out, for good reason. In lieu of printed menus, the waitstaff verbally offers 3 simple menu options: a burger, lobster or lobster roll. Considering all 3 of these dishes are some of my favorite foods ever, this was totally fine with me. It’s a unique concept to offer such a limited menu, but if you know what you are in for, it makes for a highly satisfying meal...

The Swindian :: Restaurant review: Burger & Lobster

I love small menus, as it makes it so much easier to choose what you want. Burger & Lobster go one step further, as they don’t even bother giving you a menu. There are only 3 choices: burger, lobster and lobster roll. We found out at the end of our meal that they recently introduced a 4th (!) option, the California burger (which substitutes the bread for lettuce as a healthy option). No matter what you choose, it comes with salad and fries and costs 20£...

  1. It was my mother-in-laws birthday and a trip to London was on the cards. “Would you like to join us for a meal in London?” she asked. “Cool, where we going?” I replied, “Burger & Lobster”. My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.

Now Burger & Lobster, the name is a give away, you can either order a burger, or yep, you guessed it, a lobster; so no messing around here you go for one or the other...

Ross eats :: Burger & Lobster

Their original venue in Mayfair is yet another no reservations place (you can reserve places in the newly opened and double sized Soho restaurant) where you put your name down on a list and they’ll either call you back or you can find space at the bar. I chose the later and ordered a pint, paid for it in cash, received far less change than I had expected as it turns out a automatic service charge had been added. Space at the bar is limited and in stark contrast to my days lunch venue of the awesome yet empty Ducksoup the place was rammed at 5.30pm and as more and more people levered their way into the bar the more I needed to continually move out of the way of people my desire to think poorly of the meal increased. I then was seated and everything changed...
