Quick-fix Thai dinners & takeaways are Budsara’s stock-in-trade – though the kitchen can turn up a few surprises. Tom kha gai soup & stir-fried squid in garlic & coriander are the highlights of a menu that spans the spectrum of Thai staples: from sweetcorn patties to chicken satay & pad thai noodles. Judging by a lacklustre green chicken curry, however, not everything is as competently assembled as the soup. Wines offer plenty of cheap drinking, although you need to go at least half way down the list to find anything worth ordering. Service can be inattentive & portions modest; the neutrally toned, if refined, dining room lacks sparkle too. Unless you’ve a real hankering for a sit-down Thai meal, a takeaway might be the more preferable option here.
