Like all good family-owned establishments this Bollington Italian prides itself on its reputation for both consistently sound cooking & friendliness. For a start the pizza oven is the real deal: a proper wood-fired affair delivering gorgeous thin-crust, generously topped pizzas & meltingly moreish folded calzone. Elsewhere, pasta dishes might include orecchiette alla Pugliese (broccoli, sage, pine nuts & cream) & linguine con codine (crayfish, rocket, cherry tomatoes, garlic & brandy), & there are plenty of meat & fish dishes besides. An early-bird menu offers good value (£9.95 for two courses) & like many Italian restaurants Briscola is child-friendly with a terrific value kids’ menu too. The place is nearly always busy, the service excellent & the vibe good.
