Following a fire at their original premises on the High Street, the guys from Almost Famous Burgers have moved to a new site – this time within the funky Great Northern Warehouse. Originally a
pop-up, this big, brash joint has rebooted, with some new ideas on the food front. Burgers are still the top shout, all slathered in some rather ironically named, chilli-spiked sauces (‘suicide’,
‘red neck’ etc). Check out ‘baddaboom’ (a double cheese whopper with garlic butter brioche, bacon, chorizo, onions, famous sauce, fries, parmesan and chilli) or the triple-peppered ’animal’ version
with fried onions in magic mustard mayo, ‘beef monster munch’, chipotle ketchup and jalapeños. Otherwise, go for ‘awesome frickin’ chicken’, ‘hog-hammer’ pulled pork rolls or ‘triple dip money
flip’ flat-iron steak sandwiches washed down with craft beers and ‘bitch juice’ cocktails. Order at the bar. No bookings, but ‘smart-casual’ dress after 7pm.

After a half an hour wait in the cold we were summoned to climb the stairs to the second floor by the doorman. At this point we were famished and looking forward to destroying the infamous delights that has caused frenzy among the burger loving scene. If we had given in to the menu of Luck, Lust, Liquor and Burn at the ground floor whilst patiently queuing and awaiting our turn then this blog may have never been as it took us an eternity to come up with the name...

If you live in Manchester, you already know of the institution that is Almost Famous. I call Almost Famous an institution because it intrigues me – I didn’t understand how an unadvertised small ‘room’ located up a staircase behind an unmarked door, made such amazing burgers. Almost Famous was the city’s worst kept secret and boy was it good! But then, the unthinkable happened – this Northern Quarter institution burnt down last summer. But for its loyal burger fan base (including me), they are back with a vengeance and I couldn’t be happier! You probably know that I love a good burger, and when I heard that...
