The originally-named 8 Hoxton Square is the sister restaurant of 10 Greek Street, one of my favourite restaurants of 2012. This was reason enough to get me very excited about eating there, so I dragged Templeton Peck, Vicious Alabaster, Socialist Worker and The Squinting Brummie along for the ride. The newly opened 8 Hoxton Square is a temple of hope for me. Memories of its big sister restaurant 10 Greek Street give me flutters of expectation, remembering the stripped back, delicious food that I won’t besmirch now with prissy descriptions. It was my good friend William’s birthday last week so he rounded up a small troop of foodies and lovingly guided us to 8 Hoxton Square for a celebratory meal. Although naturally a few festive pre-dinner drinks were in order first. Luckily for us, 8 Hoxton Square is neighbour to the ultra-cool and highly secretive basement bar Happiness Forgets, which describes itself as “High End Cocktails, Low Rent Basement”, which I personally think is quite fantastic.
