We normally keep quiet about pop-up restaurants, but you’ll forgive us for making an exception here. Albert Adrià, younger brother of the astronomically famous Ferran (formerly of elBulli) and praised by Juan Mari Arzak (of acclaimed restaurant Arzak, San Sebastián) as “one of the best cooks in the world” – is cooking at Café Royal for 50 days, from 12 February to 9 April. Having worked at elBulli for 23 years until it closed in 2011, Albert’s restaurants under his own name have developed a phenomenal reputation in Barcelona and this is London’s opportunity to see what all the fuss is about. The experience starts with cocktails and snacks at the Oscar Wilde bar and moves on to the beautifully restored Domino room. It’s a finite number of days, so it's a finite number of covers – the gastronomically inquisitive need to book their tables now. Albert was also named by the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants in the World as the world’s best pastry chef, so we’ll be having double helpings of dessert please.
