A reboot of the dive bar at Antico sees it transformed into a cosy, self-contained neighbourhood hole-up whose forte is gin. Gilpin’s, The
Spectator, citrusy American rarity Bluecoat and a selection of old genevers are among 50 back-bar goodies that show up alongside various rums. The well-balanced drinks list is, understandably, big
on mother's ruin – from flights of three, served with distinctive homemade tonic, to cocktails including the likes of aviation, a Bermondsey negroni (using local gin), Jensen and a good take on the
Copenhagen (Bols Genever, Heering Cherry, lime and bitters). Otherwise, try ginger sour (King’s Ginger liqueur shaken with egg white, lemon juice and bourbon finished with bitters) or one of
various spritzes served with fresh antipasti from the kitchen upstairs. Sadly, the happy hour (5-6pm) is not much use to your average London Bridge commuter.
