Paternoster Chop House, brought to London by the D&D restaurant group, is on a mission to bring back the great British chophouse. Here you can feast on large sharing cuts of meat cooked on open charcoal grills, in josper ovens or on spit roasts, as well as satisfying fish and veggie options, along with a selection of constantly-changing sides and a deep wine list that reaches into some fine old and new world bottles. Provenance is crucial at Paternoster Chop House - fish is sustainably sourced from day boat fishermen, and meat is all bought on the bone and butchered in-house to ensure the best from each cut as well as a wide-ranging menu that goes beyond the classics.
While there isn’t a dedicated private dining room at Paternoster Chop House, both the main restaurant area and its interconnected bar and terrace can be booked for exclusive events and private dinners, depending on the size of the party. The areas combined can cater for up to 150 guests, but can just as easily be hired separately for smaller groups. The urban décor feels fun and relaxed, with a red tiled bar, leather banquet seating, menus written on blackboards and a giant mural of a cow’s head on the wall. There is also a heated outdoor terrace at the front of the restaurant that allows guests to add an alfresco element to a dinner or event. This can be booked for both dining and drinking.
On the menu, expect plenty of meaty favourites with beef at the fore. Dishes on the robata grill include rib eye, sirloin and fillet beef cuts, while sharers such as chateaubriand, porterhouse and tomahawk steaks, all available with your choice of sauces and optional tiger prawns for surf'n'turf fans. There are fish dishes too, such as the day boat haddock and chips, and epic sides like triple-cooked chips, minted peas and creamed spinach complete the meal.
There's also a lengthy drinks list which features everything from wines by the glass (including a solid English wine selection), to signature Tattinger Champagne cocktails and an extensive collection of over 40 premium single malt whiskies.
