Since opening in 2008, Mayfair staple Murano has gone from strength to strength, gaining its first Michelin star just months after opening and retaining it ever since. Headed up by Angela Hartnett, the revered British chef who came to prominence while working under Gordon Ramsay, Murano is primarily focussed on Northern Italian cuisine. Expect impeccably presented classic dishes revitalised with seasonal produce. Featuring a chef's table private dining room, Murano is perfect for impressive private dining occasions, from client lunches to indulgent dinners with friends and family.
Tucked away at the rear of the restaurant, the private dining room at Murano is unique to say the least. There's a glass window into the kitchen so you and your guests can watch the chefs at work, while simple Mediterranean décor creates a relaxed ambience, from modern art on the walls to a large wine rack. Up to 12 people can be accommodated at the oval table, with guests benefiting from dedicated service, and a curated wine pairing if liked. Do note that this room is separated from the main dining room by a retractable curtain, creating a semi-private dining experience.
The menu at Murano changes frequently according to what produce is in season and what suppliers have in stock, so no two meals will be the same when you visit. You can choose between the a la carte menu, or indulge in a seven or nine course tasting menu, depending on your budget and occasion. Expect classic flavours with dishes like a smoked ricotta tartlet with pickled walnut and bresaola, and a distinct focus on fresh pasta with plates including chicken tortellini in brodo with pickled turnip.
The extensive wine list showcases a range of Italian wines, from revered vintages to smaller independent labels from lesser known regions. There are classic and signature cocktails too, should you prefer.
