Located in Liverpool’s ‘Beatles Quarter’, the new Hard Days Night Hotel makes a great spot for music-themed events. Housed in a tastefully converted Grade-II listed building, the four-star property has 110 bedrooms and two suites. The latter, which can be used for functions, are named in honour of Lennon and McCartney, showcasing items celebrating the great men – the Lennon suite, for example, features a white grand piano. The Hard Days Night event suite, meanwhile, holds a vast collection of memorabilia from the film of the same name and seats 50 for dinner, and the creatively lit Zygmant suite (in honour of Beatles photographer Bill Zygmant) can accomodate 80. Both rooms adjoin Hari's bar, and if all you need is love, the hotel even has its own wedding chapel.

The new myhotel (tel: 01273 900 300) in Brighton is described as a place where ‘Freddie Mercury might have met the Maharishi’. New York designer Karim Rashid has collaborated with founder Andy Thrasyvoulou on the brand’s first new-build property. Bold visuals, futuristic lines and shapes, and spiritual Indian influences characterise this über-modern, 80-room property. Spread over four floors, it features an underground car park, a selection of themed suites, a spacious penthouse and two event spaces; Mercury, 710sq ft, and Rishi, 474sq ft. Mercury accommodates up to 25 boardroom style or 40 for a reception and has lots of natural daylight courtesy of frosted glazing. Rishi seats up to 15 and is ideal for meetings and private dinner parties. The hotel’s cocktail lounge, Merkaba, seats 80 and features large aquariums, a10m long gold leaf bar and plasma screens showing videos by local artists. In the summer, an Italian deli-style café and seafood restaurant by Aldo Zilli will open, with alfresco seating for up to 120 people.
