BEST FOR glitz and glamour
Bigger than the Hanway Place original, Hakkasan Mayfair spreads across two dimly-lit floors, decked out in the same seductive style that made its  predecessor such a hit. Our favourite space is the dark and moody lower ground floor, which can be hired exclusively for groups of up to 160 seated guests. This is also where the private room pictured here is located. At street level is a second dining room and lively cocktail bar, able to host dinners for 60 or receptions for 100. All parties of eight or more must choose the same set menu for the group – make sure yours includes a dim sum platter.

BEST FOR intimate private dining
Refurbished to the tune of £125m, the Four Seasons on Park Lane has dedicated most of its ground floor to Amaranto, a three-tiered operation encompassing a restaurant, cocktail bar and relaxed lounge. Its private dining room is tiny but gorgeous, seating eight guests in sexy red surrounds with leather walls. The restaurant itself has 58 covers and there’s outdoor space for 20 on the adjacent terrace. Elaborate Italian cooking is matched to wines from a list with unbeatable by-the-glass choice.

BEST FOR: impressing clients
As we closed for press, the main restaurant was fully booked till the end of June… However, the Dinner crew had only just started taking reservations for the slightly baronial 10-seater private dining room. There’ll be a choice of three or four courses, and the long-awaited mobile ice-cream maker should be in action too. We know you’ll start with the famous meat fruit, but be sure to also order ‘rice with flesh’ and finish with the tipsy cake. Eating here earns you top bragging rights. Enjoy.
