Bend it like Gordon

Gordon Ramsay - MG_8190-2_copy.jpgIt’s out with the old and in with the new for Gordon Ramsay: his 11-year relationship with five-star Mayfair hotel Claridge’s will come to an end this June.

No matter – Ramsay has other irons in the fire, including a restaurant with his BFF David Beckham. The long-mooted Union Street Café in Borough will open in September, serving Mediterranean-style dishes; it will be ‘very different to any existing Gordon Ramsay venues,’ say his people.

Considering the chef’s less-than-amicable relationship with his father-in-law and former business partner Chris Hutcheson, isn’t he nervous about going into business with a close friend? It seems not. ‘It’s great that David wants to come on board and be a partner – we’re really excited to be opening Union Street Café together,’ insists the chef.

Perhaps he’s looking forward to having the spotlight focused on someone else?
