Shaving of truffle on that, Sir? Why not. Here’s where to find the ingredient among London restaurants.
Alba: The City restaurant is running a special London Restaurant Festival menu until 18 October, featuring homemade pasta with truffle butter and black truffles. For a supplement of £20, guests can substitute black truffle for white.
Alloro: Expect the likes of veal fillet tartare with Parmesan shavings and white truffle, scrambled egg with white truffle and croutons, and tagliolini with white truffle.
Babbo: The restaurant is serving homemade tagliolini with quail-egg cream and white truffles, veal carpaccio with white truffles, and guinea fowl with chestnut and white truffles.
Bocca di Lupo (pictured, below): Truffle dishes include scrambled eggs with anchovies and truffles, tajarin all'uovo (egg-yolk taglioni with a raw duck egg yolk and Parmesan and shaved white or black truffles), and bagna cauda (a warm anchovy fondue with puntarelle, treviso and other raw vegetables, plus shaved white or black truffles).
Cecconi’s: Enjoy tagliolini with black truffle at the Mayfair restaurant.
Il Convivio: The Pimlico restaurant is running a special white truffle menu throughout October.
L’Anima: Chef Francesco Mazzei is serving risotto with Parmesan and white truffle and warm burrata with extra virgin olive oil and white truffle.
Locanda Locatelli: Giorgio Locatelli is serving his annual dedicated truffle menu, which this year includes the likes of homemade ravioli with white truffle and pan-fried veal chop, mashed potatoes and white truffle.
Polpo: On 9 November, Russell Norman's Soho restaurant is running a special one-off Piemonte wines and truffle evening with online wine experts Wine Chap. Refettorio at the Crowne Plaza Hotel: The Giorgio Locatelli-directed restaurant is running a special white truffle menu through to December. Priced at £120 for four courses, expect dishes such as white-truffle risotto, and pan-fried veal chop, melted cheese, mashed potatoes and white truffle.
Ristorante Semplice: Truffle dishes at the Piedmont-influenced restaurant include beef carpaccio with white truffle, scrambled egg with white truffle and Parmesan risotto with white truffle.
Zafferano: Truffle risotto, tagliolini with truffle, and scrambled egg with truffle all feature on the Knightsbridge restaurant’s menu at present.
