As London’s open-air gig season gets under way for another year, the city prepares for the return of
the Summer Series at Somerset House.
For those not au fait with this popular programme of gigs, the series sees a number of artists take to the stage in the stunning setting of an 18th century neo-classical courtyard to deliver inspirational sets as the sun goes down.
Smouldering songstress and guitarist extraordinaire Anna Calvi will be casting her magic spell over all one evening, while Grammy award-winning American soul diva Jill Scott will take to the stage for two consecutive nights.
In keeping with the influx of visitors set to visit the capital this summer, international representation will come from Charlotte Gainsbourg and the indie-electro hooks of M83 (both from France), Australian indie rockers The Temper Trap, and an evening of Afrobeat delights presented by Choice FM’s DJ Abrantee. If anything’s guaranteed to provide an infectious beat for your feet to move to, it’s music from the African continent.
So head down to the bastion of creativity that is Somerset House with your dancing feet on and your ears wide open for the grandest musical house party in London.
Summer Series at Somerset House runs from 7 July to 19 July. For more information and tickets, visit the Somerset House website.
