If there’s one London art gallery that has to be on every culture vulture's list this season, it’s the
Serpentine.
The gallery is featuring a special exposition of Yoko Ono’s work (pictured), reflecting on her impact on the worlds of art, film and music. To the Light is her first UK exhibition for more than 10 years, and will include Smile, which invites people to upload images of their smiles as part of a global anthology of portraits.
Plus, the annual Pavilion commission will see Chinese conceptual artist Ai Weiwei, and Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron – responsible for the 2008 Olympic stadium in Beijing – join forces to create a design in the UK. And a new gallery space – the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, designed by Zaha Hadid – will open later this year.
