Silent opera at The Old Vic tunnels

Olympic Map - 1109_Old_Vic_Tunnels_IMG_8635.jpgThe Old Vic theatre is lending the tunnels beneath the theatre to Silent Opera, a young person’s theatre group specialising in innovative opera. The group will stage a modern version of Puccini’s La Bohème until 26 February: think tattoos, swabs and syringes as the tale of Mimi and Rodolfo’s romance in the artists’ quarter of Paris is rebooted for the 21st century.

As an audience member, you will don headphones and follow the main actors around the underground tunnels beneath The Old Vic. During the evening, the actors will perform the work and sing into face-mics, accompanied by the recording of a full symphony orchestra and cast.

The silent opera performances take place in The Old Vic Tunnels from Thursday-Sunday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20. To book tickets, visit the Old Vic online box office or call 0844 871 7628.
