A picture tells 1,000 words: Louis Roederer Champagne Snaps

(menu)

Cedar Court - Penthouse bathroom 1004_Cedar_Court_The_Grand_penthouse_bathroom.jpgLouis Roederer already receives readers’ stories about their favourite or most memorable wine experiences as part of Square Meal’s annual wine-anecdote competition. But this year, the Champagne house is going one step further and asking Square Meal readers to submit photos of themselves enjoying Louis Roederer – with the best entries each month winning a bottle.

Whether you’re enjoying a glass of Champagne in a stunning setting on a glamorous holiday, sharing a bottle on a stylish night out with friends, or just relaxing in the bath with a glass of bubbly after a particularly successful day at work, just take a picture with yourself and the bottle of Louis Roederer and post it on Square Meal’s Facebook page. You’ll need to include the Wine List of the Year hashtag #wloty and a description of when, where and why you’re enjoying Louis Roederer – and don't forget to tag yourself in the picture! Alternatively, tweet your picture with the same #wloty hashtag and the handle @squaremeal and use the remaining characters to describe the scene.

All entries to the competition will be collected in the Louis Roederer Wine List of the Year album on Square Meal’s Facebook page. We’ve taken the liberty to start the photo album off ourselves by uploading pictures of Square Meal staff members (including our editor, Ben McCormack, below right) enjoying Louis Roederer at the Square Meal Christmas party – but we’re sure you can come up with better and more imaginative pictures to send in.

louis roederer champagne snaps 2013 - 2013-01-25_16.54.01.jpgEach month, Square Meal will choose the best photo and send its owner a bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne. At the end of the year, the owner of our favourite overall picture will be treated to a meal for two at the restaurant named Champagne List of the Year at the 2013 Wine List of the Year awards (to be announced in November); past winners of this award have included Texture and Le Pont de la Tour.

Of course, given the popularity of the our quarterly wine-anecdote competition – run in conjunction with Square Meal’s sister publication, Imbibe – we will still be accepting entries and awarding a bottle of Champagne to the best stories we receive each quarter. So if you, like last year’s winners, have a charming or humorous wine-related anecdote, memories of a great wine-list experience, or a story about a sommelier who went beyond the call of duty to find you the perfect match for your meal, we would love to hear from you. Just fill in this online application with your contact details and wine comment.

Picture perfect: a few house rules

Square Meal and Louis Roederer are really excited about receiving readers’ Champagne-related snaps. However, we hope you understand that by uploading photos directly to Facebook and Twitter as part of this competition, you are associating their content with Square Meal and Louis Roederer. Please keep it classy – and don’t be surprised if photos depicting the following are immediately removed from the site and disqualified from the competition:

• inappropriate nakedness
• sexual conduct
• underage drinking
• driving under the influence

And don’t forget…

• your picture should include both yourself and your bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne – the rest of its composition is up to you
• when posting your photo…
o include a sentence or two describing when, where and why you were drinking Louis Roederer
o tag yourself in the picture
o add the hashtag #wloty
o if uploading the photo via Twitter, let us know by mentioning @squaremeal

So grab your mobile or digital camera next time Champagne is on the cards and get snapping. Good luck!

• Please note: Square Meal will do its best to contact every winner via email, Twitter and Facebook wherever possible in a timely fashion. Prizes not claimed by the winner within four weeks will be 'rolled over' and given away to another winner the following month.
