Limber up for the summer season as the first of Lovebox festival’s acts are revealed.
It may be 10 years old this year, but Lovebox festival is showing no signs of growing old gracefully as the first artists are announced for 2012. And there’s plenty of affection being shown for acts from both sides of the pond this year.
Flying the flag for America so far is pouty Brit winner Lana Del Rey, R’n’B superstar Kelis and 70s’ disco legends Chic featuring Nile Rogers.
Looking closer to home, Hot Chip and Friendly Fires – two of the UK’s top bands, both known for providing the soundtrack to many a party over recent years – are set to play. They’re doubtless warming up their synths and dusting off their cowbells as Square Meal writes.
With other performances due from such musicians as Patrick Wolf, The Rapture, Tiga, Magnetic Man and Azari & III, Lovebox is already boasting one of the strongest line-ups in its history.
The London-based festival was started in 2003 by funky dance duo Groove Armada, with the first being held on Clapham Common. Lovebox moved to Hackney’s Victoria Park in 2005, where it has grown in reputation and popularity ever since.
It has so far been announced that Teenage Cancer Trust and Art Against Knives will be supported this year, so attendees can party safe in the knowledge that they’re helping to give something back to the community.
Lovebox is taking place 15-17 June in London’s Victoria Park. Visit Lovebox for more information or to book tickets.
