Louis Roederer Champagne Snaps: the story so far…

This year, to run alongside its popular annual wine anecdote competition, Louis Roederer introduced a fun new way of sharing the sparkle of its Champagnes – by asking readers to upload photos of themselves enjoying its bubbly, wherever they happened to be.

So far, we’ve seen corks popped on Cristal for one lucky lady’s 30th birthday party in Egypt; smiles all round for another reader enjoying a meal with friends; bubbly below zero as one group of mates toasts the snow on their white-out terrace in Yorkshire; and more. A selection of the winners’ pictures is below: congratulations to Nysha Concannon, Stacey Smith and @GlutenFi for their winning entries. Keep yours coming if you want to be in the running to win a bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne!

What’s more, we’re still giving away magnums of Louis Roederer’s 2005 vintage to readers who submit the most entertaining wine anecdotes of the season. The winner for spring/summer – as chosen by the judges at Louis Roederer – is Alexa Cassa, whose reaction to the English wines on offer at The GrEAT British restaurant, in Mayfair, was to reach for the Roederer…

Our warmest congratulations go to Alexa. Here is her winning entry in full:

‘My friend and I always love trying new places in London, so we ended up going to The GrEat British restaurant. It promotes solely UK produce, including all the wines.... we love a glass of Champagne, so we started off with a glass of sparkling Avonleigh Organic Brut. After some mouth-twitching, we then decided a fuller bodied style would probably be preferable and settled on the Jenkyn Place. After some more twitching, desperation set in... finally, we settled for a lovely berry-and-vodka cocktail which was absolutely delicious! I think we'll have to give the UK wines a bit of a miss – we’ll happily settle for a glass of Roederer any day!’

Alexa’s magnum of Champagne arrived just in time for her birthday celebrations – so expect to see a picture of her with the birthday bubbly on Square Meal’s Facebook page soon!
