Destination - VINTAGE_-_THE_PEOPLE_5.jpgIf you happen to be in Northamptonshire in a month’s time, you may happen across a country house full of hippies, flappers and ravers. Fear not, for this is not some tired old fancy dress party full of cheese and pineapple sticks, but the Vintage Festival – a celebration of all the top trends through the decades.

Started by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, co-founders of fashion label Red or Dead, Vintage Festival is a weekend featuring the best sartorial, design and culinary delights from the 1920s through to the 1980s.

There will be fashion shows curated by Twiggy and Jo Wood, a celebration of Sir Peter Blake’s (the man behind the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album artwork) 80th and ‘make do and mend’ classes.Destination - VINTAGE_-_THE_PEOPLE_3.jpg

Musically, it’s a suitably mixed bag, with a series of nightclubs dedicated to different decades. They’ll include performances swinging from the infectious disco of Chic featuring Nile Rodgers through to the punk rock of The Damned, while the heady days of the rave scene will be relived with Danny Rampling and former Hacienda resident Graeme Park.

Destination - claire_clark_1.jpgOne not to be missed is the vintage tea experience, which has been dreamt up by Claire Clark MBE (pictured, left), former head pastry chef at The French Laundry. Square Meal has been lucky enough to be privy to a preview, which includes coronation chicken sandwiches, marmalade macaroons and rose-and-raspberry meringues.

So get those platforms on and get down for the most eclectic, eccentric country-house party of the year.

The Vintage Festival will take place on 13-15 July at Boughton House, Northamptonshire. Visit the website for tickets and more information.
