It’s very different to most people’s perception of a Thai restaurant. There’s a cool basement bar, where the moody atmosphere complements the tempting drinks
menu, plus a striking dining room upstairs. The menu for vegetarians is varied & enticing, which is the exception rather than the norm, as many restaurants simply substitute bean-curd or
vegetables for meat.
This was the first gourmet vegetarian restaurant I discovered over 10 years ago – &, in my book, it is still the best. The food is inventive, impressive,
inspirational & some other words beginning with an i – ivocative, that’s another. Chef Simon Rimmer, who surprisingly is not a veggie, consistently creates the most wonderful menus using
seasonal local produce.
Wonderful veggie food. Tibits has a chilled & relaxing atmosphere, helpful staff & a Swiss-inspired self-service system: you pay according to the weight of food on your plate. You pile it high with a massive selection of delicious hot & cold Asian, Indian & Mediterranean-influenced dishes, then get it weighed. Each dish is lovingly crafted with carefully sourced, seasonal ingredients.
