The late interior decorator-designer, famed for his royal clients – Prince Charles and the King of Saudi Arabia have both called on his services – put together the room to complement the leafy views through the window, with a barrel-shaped ceiling designed to match the original stone frames. The bed is set in the centre of the room with heavy drapes giving a stately feel, while the lively fabrics for which the eccentric Hicks was famous still look as fresh as ever.
