Leicestershire’s Stapleford Park hotel has all the period charm you could ask for
without any of the cobwebs. Each of its 55 bedrooms is individually styled from top to bottom, and none more beautifully than the David Hicks suite. The late interior decorator-designer, famed for
his royal clients – Prince Charles and the King of Saudi Arabia have both called on his services – put together the room to complement the leafy views through the window, with a barrel-shaped
ceiling designed to match the original stone frames. The bed is set in the centre of the room with heavy drapes giving a stately feel, while the lively fabrics for which the eccentric Hicks was
famous still look as fresh as ever.
