The South Bank venue showed us – and some of you – what sustainability really looks like
We like to think we at Square Meal Towers do our best for this planet we live on – we even have an office Green Fairy (Russ, who takes the recycling out). The venue for our latest reader event, however, takes everything eco to a whole new level.
Over 100 Square Meal readers rocked up to 15 Hatfields to take a look at what one of London’s most sustainable venues has to offer the events world. With each of the venue’s spaces set up for a variety of events, guests were treated to a sample menu from sustainable caterer Eden Events & Fine Dining.
Our favourite had to be the trio of salmon: soy-cooked, tea-smoked and beetroot-cured. As pretty as it was tasty.
While guests were shown around the venue, with an in-house band providing the entertainment, we got the chance to have a quick chat with the brains behind the operation, Warren Campbell.
‘We’re constantly listening to what’s going on to keep on top of the game,’ he tells us, pointing out his latest recycled finds.
Right there, topped with coasters made from tyres, stand an army of new poseur tables, engineered out of yoghurt pots and CDs.
On their way out, guests were handed loyalty passports offering rewards for their future bookings and a packet of basil seeds. Will we all at least be green-fingered this summer?
Best bit: the Gastronomy Guys serving up nitrogen meringues and egg-and-bacon ice cream.
