street food festival_the destination 2012 - food_festival1.jpgWith the return of lighter, brighter nights, Londoners are enjoying another boom in the street-food movement, with collaborations and pop-ups being announced at the drop of a hat.

First up is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Friday-night mash-up which sees Street Kitchen offer its Hatch space to newcomer Patty & Bun – which puts together bespoke brioche baps stuffed with quality ingredients such as hot-smoked salmon and red cabbage – while the neighbouring Doodle Bar throws out cocktails. Having been in residence these past few weeks, they’ll be there for a few more to come.

Heading east to bustling Brick Lane, and the Sclater Street car park will be playing host to new food market Street Feast. Set to start on Friday 4 May and run through the summer, the market sees nine leading street-food traders (including Big Apple hot dogs) set up shop each week, joined by a guest restaurant and a cocktail bar that will be serving Camden Town Brewery beer. There’s also going to be a private dining room that groups will be able to book – Square Meal has it on good authority that it’ll be set in a car wash.

Expect to see food fans queuing round the corner, tucking into buns piled high with locally sourced food in a neighbourhood near you soon.

Street Feast will be at Sclater Street Car Park, Sclater Street, London E1 6HR, Fridays from 27 April, 5pm-12M.
