THE EVENT: a charity Christmas party for the meetings and events industry, which helped raise money for the charity MIMN
(Meetings Industry Meeting Needs)
THE HOSTS: ISES, MPI and Site
THE VENUE: Christ Church Spitalfields
THE THEME: festive
THE TALKING POINT: the charity Christmas tree at the entrance. For £10, guests had the chance to win some big prizes by choosing an envelope attached to the tree. We, alas, won a boiled sweet…
THE FOOD: The London Kitchen supplied a range of wintery canapés including sausages with a creamy potato mash dip, beetroot
gravadlax on potato and celeriac rosti, and spicy pumpkin tarte tatin, followed by bowl food in the form of a Hungarian goulash in beef and veggie versions. Conceptual caterers Temple and Shian
then conjured up ‘chocolate earth’ with edible flowers and snow in a wafer-thin potato flower wrapper, raspberry spaghetti and beetroot meringues dropped in liquid nitrogen
THE DRINKS: prosecco, white wine, Peroni bottled beer and fruit pressés from Bottle Green
ENTERTAINMENT: Globestar Management provided singer Sandra Marvin and drag act The Globe Girls, while Sternberg Clarke brought acoustic guitar three-piece Wandering Hands (these guys are a particular V&E favourite!)
SUPPLIERS: furniture from The Hire Business, light and sound from Absolute Events, table and glassware from Well Dressed Tables,
angel-shaped ice sculpture from The Ice Box, photography by Indigo Plum, linen from Northfields Linen, badging by Reftech, security from Nice & Secure and staffing from Off to Work
WE LOVED: Temple and Shian, dressed as mad professors, and their liquid nitrogen canapés. All the steam flying about the brass-boiler serving station provided great theatre
