Cate Blanchett is set to return to the London stage for the first time in 13 years this spring.
The actress, famous for playing Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings and Elizabeth I, will be treading the boards at the Barbican in April in Big and Small, a Sydney Theatre Company production that is touring Europe this year.
She is set to reprise the role of Lotte, a woman searching to overcome the disconnection she experiences with the world and the people in it.
The play, by German writer Botho Strauss, starts with her sitting in a hotel dining room, before the audience is transported through the looking glass into a gently surreal Lewis Carrol-esque world that sees Lotte stumble through various encounters.
Coming to the UK for a fortnight in April, Big and Small is one of the key projects of the London 2012 Festival ahead of the Olympics this summer.
Blanchett won Best Actress at the Sydney Theatre Awards for this role last month, and is the co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
Big and Small (Gross und Klein) will be at the Barbican from Friday 13- Sunday 29 April. Find out how to buy tickets.
