A former Knightsbridge water
pumping station sounds like a particularly unprepossessing place for a party, but since its transformation by the Searcy family in 1847 into a catering business base, and more recently an events
venue, 30 Pavilion Road ranks as one of the most elegant venues in London.
Searcy’s idea was to create a home from home and hire is therefore on an exclusive basis, giving guests free run of the house. The Ballroom, seating 120, is the largest room, with high ceilings, beautiful architrave and a marble fireplace. Team it with the Library for pre-dinner drinks: at Sharon Osbourne’s Christmas party last year, 200 guests enjoyed a buffet in the Library, followed by live entertainment in the Ballroom. We like to think Ozzy crashed in one of the upstairs Roof Garden bedrooms once the party was over...
