Independence Day

If you still haven’t made any plans for American Independence Day on Friday, make sure you head to either the Blues Bar & Bistro (Tel: 020 7494 1966 ) or The Royal Garden (Tel: 020 7937 8000), where two fun-filled and American-style evenings await you. A magnificent feast will be held at Royal Garden Hotel’s renowned Park Terrace Restaurant, which overlooks the entrance to Kensington Palace. A buffet dinner prepared by exec chef Steve Munkley includes dishes like Bourbon baked ham and red snapper with a Mexican salsa. Diners can also tuck into a New York blueberry cheesecake or the legendary Mississippi mud pie. To ensure that guests get into the right spirit, a New York jazz band will be providing the entertainment. Alternatively, at Blues Bistro & Bar, guests can expect an evening packed with tasty food washed down with gallons of Budweiser (which even has been brewed on the 4th). Try, for example, the pan-fried tiger prawns on a corn fritter with sauce vierge, followed by char-grilled New York striploin with herb mash and garlic mayonnaise, or the steamed Maine lobster salad with a ginger, scallion and mango dressing. Diners can then choose from three sinfully good desserts; butterscotch & pecan tart with banana mousse, chocolate brownie with warm chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream, or a strawberry cheesecake with passion fruit coulis.
